These are the places I love. I’ve listened to their song and my heart danced.

When we walk on country, she teaches us

Half Lap

In 2022 we were fortunate to have the time to do a ‘half lap’.

12 weeks on the road, travelling from our home in Canberra, through New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, across the Nullabor to Perth, up the Western Australian coast, through the Kimberly and returning through Northern Territory. This journey was also my ‘return’ to photography. I loved my Pentax SLR while adventuring across the world in my early 20’s. Then life happened, careers and kids, and the DSLR revolution passed me by. This trip was an opportunity too big to miss, and my investment in my Nikon mirrorless system has reignited the past passion.

As for the trip - amazing! But not without it’s challenges. The Kimberly was my favourite, an ancient land, where you start to understand and respect the deep connection the Aboriginal people have with country. A connection we must cherish and celebrate.

Ngunnawal Country

Moving to Canberra was the change we needed.

We had grown up in Sydney, and had returned after our global back packing years. As the kids were growing, we needed a change of pace - and Canberra provided that opportunity. If you had asked me in my 20’s, “no way” - but we love it. The city has matured, big city vibe mixed with relaxed country town pace.

Autumn is my favourite, plenty of festivities, hot air balloons and the stunning autumn colours. The short drive into the Brindabella Mountains to capture the winter snow is super fun!

Japan

I love Japan!

There is no easy way to describe it - Japan is just amazing. The people, the food, the culture, the cities, the country side, and the mountains.

We honeymooned in Japan nearly 20 years ago, then returned in 2025 with the kids. We can not wait to go back!
